Ten letters (1828-1833) written mainly from Guilford, New York, by Kent to Timothy Ruggles Green concerning the sale of Green family lands in Chenango County; the writer mentions the current price of lands, surveying expenses, squatters and trespassers, and other matters; one letter (June 1822) to Mary Green asking whether she is willing to sell any of her lands and commenting on low prices for agricultural products.

Timothy Ruggles Green, from Massachusetts, became an attorney in New York City in the mid-1820s. He was a trustee of Brown University and active in religious organizations. He married Cornelia Elizabeth Arnold in the mid-1830s. He died on March 16, 1840 in South Carolina. John Wroughton Mitchell (1796-1878) was born in Charleston, South Carolina.
